Bullying In Social Media 

Social Media bullying has been an ongoing problem since the beginning of social media and interaction with other people through out the social media world. It is up to the social media society to break the chain that links to bullying throughout the social media world or continue to promote the issues that go along with it. 

Bullying is when a person who is a bully is abuses a victim this usually only involves two people but can escalate to more people depending on the situation which includes cyber bullying. Most times in social media bullying there is the victim and multiple bullies. Although some of the bullies didn't initiate the problem people who promote it are equally as wrong. For an example on twitter there is something that you can do if you enjoy something called "retweeting". When you retweet you can share the item with everyone who follows you. 

As you can see above as social media grows the bullying grows, at this rate you can say that the progression can only get worse from here on out. Bullies have a ladder of power that goes in an order or the billies who start the problem, the followers of the bully, supporters of the bully, possible bullies, possible defenders, and finally defenders. In other words it starts with the bullies and ends with those who oppose bullying. 

Females are more prone to being bullied in the social media world than males. In most cases a female for an example will put a picture up of themselves and immediately get bullied. I believe that the rate of bullying between male and female are the same. Although they say that a male will not show feelings or emotion they still feel some type of way in some sort of form. 

    One of the most frequent issues that need to be addressed is recognizing the problem itself. Many people, whether parents, teachers, or even law enforcement officers, do not know what their specific state laws are in regards to cyber bullying. In some states you can go to jail for cyber bullying. In the social media world bullies think they can get away with bullying on the internet. In some cases a bully can continue to abuse the victims and the police can be keeping tab on the bullies actions. If the bullies continue this behavior any day can be their last on social media completely because the police could be coming to find you.  

Bullying is deeply plastered in American culture. Our society states the top of capitalistic competition. This win or die trying aspect, the competitive college acceptance process, and much of the corporate world, contribute to many of the bullying problems that we battle today. The issues of bullying and cyber bullying can only be contained in the short term and not eliminated completely due to how deep-seeded they have become in our competitive society. I believe that the social media bullying is a leading cause of issues in the social world which makes people uncomfortable in social media world. I personally have retweeted or reposted something that was relatively mean. For an example I have retweeted a video of someone being beat up in a video and I was a person that laughed and thought it was hilarious. I do not think that this behavior is right nor do I think that is should be ongoing. If everyone works together this problem can be eradicated slowly but surely.
